Former pro wrestling star Bobby Lashley lost the last time he stepped into the mixed martial arts cage, but he's not done fighting.

Titan Fighting Championship has announced the signing of Lashley, who will fight James Jack on March 25 in a show televised on HDNet. The card will also feature former UFC star Phil Baroni taking on a little-known fighter named Nick Nolte.

For Titan, signing Lashley is a strong indication that the promotion is willing to spend money to acquire recognizable names. The promotion also spent big to acquire Tim Sylvia, who was knocked out in 32 seconds by Abe Wagner last month. The question is whether Titan can build enough of a following among MMA fans to justify the expenses of fighters like Sylvia and Lashley.

Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly is confident that his promotion is building the right way.

"We received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the MMA community following our HDNet debut on January 28," Kelly said. "A lot of unique opportunities have presented themselves to Titan since the show and working with Bobby Lashley was one of them. We are really excited to be working with Bobby as he continues his pursuit of MMA greatness."

Lashley won his first five fights while taking on overmatched opponents early in his career then was upset by Chad Griggs in August. Jack should be a beatable opponent for him, but then again, that's what everyone thought about Griggs.
