NEW YORK, New York – Boxing superstar and Sarangani Congressman Manny Pacquiao and "Sugar" Shane Mosley concluded their coast-to-coast US media tour for their world championship fight in May.

“I'm happy to be back here in New York, it's very cold here, because last time I came here summer time, it's hot. This time, it's cold,” said Pacquiao.

“What can I say? I can't wait for May 7 to fight against Manny Pacquiao, who is a great fighter, warrior, and these are the type of fights I love to be in,” said Mosley.

Filipino fans trooped to the Chelsea Piers in New York to cheer for their boxing idol.

Pacquiao is expected to make a killing from his Las Vegas showdown in May.

Team Pacquiao did not specify the exact amount, but Pacquiao's chief of staff Franklin Gacal said it will not be lower than US$15 million.

Of course, this doesn't include Pacquiao's share of pay-per-view (PPV) buys, which could raise his earnings to about $20 million or more, depending on the number of paid showtime subscriptions

Mosley is said to be assured of at least $5 million.

While this may be Pacquiao's biggest match in terms of prize purse, it remains a mismatch.

According to Ryan Songalia, the only Filipino-American member of the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), Mosley is not as explosive as he was 10 years ago and that Pacquiao could be out of his league.

“I think the reason why Pacquiao is facing Mosley is because it's a beautiful fight. He knows that Mayweather is trying to hold the ball and wait for Pacquiao to get old and get hurt maybe in the fight and then he'll pounce on him…. Pacquiao won't get hurt, he's staying busy, staying in ring, making money while Mayweather sitting in the sidelines waiting for Pacquiao to get old,” said Songalia.

Pacquiao said he is still not discounting the possibility of facing Floyd Mayweather since he is not yet retiring.

Wala pa naman, pero malapit na, mahirap magsalita ngayon, pero definitely, hindi pa ako magreretire after this fight, hindi na masyadong matagal,” said Pacquiao.

And while he may be busy with all his fight promotions, the boxer-politician claims he has not neglected his constituents in Sarangani province.

Ok naman at balance naman, at eto, alay ko sa ating mga sambayanang Pilipino, sa ating mga minamahal na mga kababayan. Thank you sa lahat ng supporta at pagdarasal po, maraming salamat,” he said.

Pacquiao didn't forget his spouse duties either.

In the news conference which fell on Valentine's Day, the cameras were all rolling as he gave his wife a special cake.

He announced that the two of them will go on a date in an undisclosed place in New York before heading out to Washington D.C.
