NEW YORK (Reuters) – The Utah Jazz's Tyrone Corbin, who took over coaching duties from Jerry Sloan last month, has signed a multi-year contract with the NBA team.
Terms were not announced by the Jazz.
"He has been widely recognized as one of the brightest young coaches around the league and we are thrilled to have him as head coach," Jazz president Randy Rigby said in a statement.
Corbin, a former NBA player, had served as an assistant coach under Sloan since the 2004-05 season.
He ranked second in voting for the NBA's top assistant coach as selected by league general managers, the Jazz said.
Sloan resigned on February 10 after 23 years with the team.
