Playboy, Yahoo reps joining Arum

Representatives from Playboy magazine and Yahoo Sports are joining Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum in his long trip to the Philippines in time for Manny Pacquiao’s media day on March 21 in Baguio City, site of the pound-for-pound king’s training camp for the May 7 fight with Shane Mosley.

“I am looking forward to go to the Philippines,” said Arum, who will be accompanied by his step daughter Dena DuBoef, from his homebase in Las Vegas. “I can’t wait.”

Arum said Kevin Iole, who covers boxing and mixed martial arts for Yahoo Sports, and a staffer from Playboy, will be traveling with him. They are scheduled to leave the US on March 19 and will arrive in the country early morning of March 21 due to the time difference.

Iole, formerly with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, is a regular fixture in big fights not only in the US but in foreign lands where marquee matches are taking place.

Pacquiao, meanwhile, is heading to Baguio City anytime Sunday in time for the start of training camp on Monday.

Joining Pacquiao in the five-hour trek to the City of Pines are his trainer Freddie Roach, conditioning coach Alex Ariza and local assistants Buboy Fernandez and Nonoy Neri, Canadian adviser Mike Koncz, as well as members of his Congress staff and security personnel.

Interestingly, Mosley is already holed up in Big Bear, California, a resort city outside the Los Angeles metropolitan area that has an elevation of close to 8,000 feet.
