Spoelstra speaks up about Miami’s ‘cry-gate’

Miami Heat Filipino-American coach Erik Spoelstra finally spoke up 2 days after what is now known as his team’s "cry-gate" incident.

 

In a bid to mop things up on his comments that some of his players shed tears after the team's loss to the Chicago Bulls, Spoelstra said his remarks were taken out of context and sensationalized.

“I was shocked… it's actually making news,” he said.

“I will say one thing, the guys care. Nobody was wimping in the locker room,” added the Miami coach.

Unfortunately for the Heat, no amount of pep talk from their coach can seem to get them off their losing skid.

Miami hosted the Portland Trailblazers on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) and walked off their home court getting booed again by the crowd.

The Blazers, behind 26 points from LaMarcus Aldridge defeated the Heat, 105-96.

It was the 5th straight defeat for the Heat and the latest to another playoff-bound team.

Stars Dwayne Wade and LeBron James were again brilliant for Miami, combining for 69 points.

But they got little help from the rest of the team, including fellow All-Star Chris Bosh who had only 7. (ANC)
