In 1997 Arturo Gatti went to war with Gabriel Ruelas, stopping him in Round 5.

Ring magazine would name it 'Fight of the Year' and 'Knockout of the Year'

Fight was named Ring Magazine Knockout of the Year and Ring Magazine Fight of the Year for 1997.
The announcers labeled the 5th Round as a "battle of uppercuts" as both fighters walked forward and traded clean shots.
Pernell Whitaker entered the ring after the fight to congratulate Gatti.
