Helping Globalport with their Trade Block
(c) PBA Media Bureau
Globalport is currently in the middle of a lot of trade talks and transaction rumors. It all started from the showbiz-like posts of their owner, Mikee Romero.
The two players that were involved were Joseph Yeo and Roi Sumang. The owners did not like the performances of the two in their last few games and the way he wrote his post, it seems he wanted them out.
The thing is, nobody is taking the bait right now. Maybe, they should be the one to call teams that may need Sumang and Yeo. Here are four trades that they may pursue.
Alaska-Globalport: Jayvee Casio for Joseph Yeo
I like this trade for both teams. You may say that Globalport already have a lot of point guards but Casio will be a difference maker. Having him, Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle rotating in the PG and SG guard position will give them different kind of combos. Romeo with Casio will be a great fastbreak and halfcourt offensive duo while Pringle could have better looks if Casio will be handling the PG position with him.
One thing that they will need to do of course is to trade at least two of Jonathan uyloan, Roi Sumang and Jeric Fortuna for forwards or bigmen.
Ginebra-Globalport: Chris Ellis for Joseph Yeo
Shooting Guard remains to be the weakest position of Ginebra although they are trying to have a very tall rotation by inserting Ellis in the 2 once in a while. They only have one natural SG and that is old Mark Caguioa. So, this make sense for Ginebra.
Getting Chris Ellis will strengthen the wing rotation of Globalport. Putting Ellis their together with Warner and Maierhofer or Jensen, would give rise to a very athletic and running savy frontline. And, maybe in a more free flowing system of Globalport with less pressure to perform, Ellis could finally reach his potential.
Blackwater-Globalport: James Sena for Roi Sumang
Blackwater is pretty loaded already in the bigs position with Jason Ballesteros, Art Dela Cruz, JP Erram and Frank Golla so they may want to exchange Sena to try and unload the potential of Roi Sumang. Carlo Lastimosa is playing really well with them and beside him is a great veteran, Mike Cortez.
Cool Cat can take Roi under his wings to make sure that he could be a viable starting PG for the future. On the other hand, James is a PF who has a midrange shot. He runs the floor pretty well and a hardworker inside. He could be a great pick and roll partner to Pringle and Romeo.
Talk 'n Text-Globalport: Ryan Reyes for Roi Sumang and Joseph Yeo
TNT have the best point guard in Asia but the other players on their backcourt are already aging and may need to be exchange for younger once. Ryan Reyes could be the better third head in a hydra with Romeo and Pringle. Reyes is one of the sharpest shooter this season, 43.7%, and we all know by now that he is one of the best in terms of defense.
He will not be demanding the ball in offense and he will be a great threat from the outside. He will also take the job of defending the best scoring guard of their opponent. I think, this is the best trade for Globalport and they should really try to pursue it.
