The German DFP-Pokal Cup commenced its second round during Wednesday and Thursday. The Cup works the same as the other domestic cups in Europe, a knockout competition which composed of teams from different leagues of Germany, which gives opportunity to lower league sides to upset the big boys of the Bundesliga sides.

Astoria Walldorf 1-0 Darmstadt

Astoria Walldorf who are playing in the 4th tier of German football league system just defeated Vfl Bochum that plays in the 2.Bundesliga in the first round, continued their giant killing run in the 2nd round as they defeat this time a Bundesliga side Darmstadt. Hillerbrand's goal in the 32nd minute was all that was needed for Astoria to continue their impressive cup run so far.

 Borussia Dortmund 1(3)-1(0) Union Berlin

Borussia Dortmund scraped past 2.Bundesliga side Union Berlin, to continue their run in the DFP Pokal cup. The two goals of the game was actually both scored by Union Berlin, the first goal coming in the 44th minute when Michael Parensen put the ball back into his own net to put his team down 1-0 with a minute left in the first half. Steven Skrzybski scored a late equalizer for Union Berlin in the 81st minute to force extra time. The match reached the lottery of the penalties when both teams failed to score in the additional 30 minutes that was given. Dortmund held their nerve shootout as they won 3-0 on penalties.

 Nurnberg 2-3 Schalke 04

Schalke as with Dortmund was given a very hard time by a side in a lower league than them. Yevhen Konoplyanka put the royal blues up 1-0 after just 20 minutes. Klass-Jan Huntelaar followed him in the 31st minute then Konoplyanka was again in the score sheet when he scored in the 45th minute to end the first half with 3-0 lead and looks like that Nurnberg will have a long night ahead of them. But in the 2nd half Nurnberg was given a small ray of hope in the 59th minute when Baba Rahman scored an own goal to pull one back. Then the possibility of a comeback made the small ray of hope a little bigger when Tobias Kempe scored a penalty kick in the 68th minute. However Nurnberg cant find the 3rd goal on the last 22 minutes as Schalke held on for the win.

Sportfreunde Lotte 2(4)-2(3) Bayer Leverkusen

Sportfreunde Lotte achieved the shock of the round when they beat Bayer Leverkusen in their German cup tie. Despite Leverkusen only in 11th place right now in Bundesliga they are currently playing in the Champions League as well. Lotte in other hand is playing 2 leagues below them in 3.Liga. Leverkusen already showed their might and intent to win when Kevin Volland scored after just 25 minutes. But a Roberto Hilbert own goal in the 47th minute allowed Lotte to return into the game and subsequently able to force extra time. Volland once again put his side on top in the 95th minute, but once again they can't hold on to the lead as Kevin Freiberger scored in the 105th minute to tie the score 2-2. The match also reached the penalties where Lotte won 4-3 on penalties despite missing their first two spot kicks.
