Nick Young Represents the Lakers in the 3-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend


It was announced today that forward/guard for the Los Angeles Lakers  Nick Young has been selected to participate in the 2017 JBL Three-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend in New Orleans. The contest will take place on Saturday, February 18 during NBA All-Star 2017 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

Young will make his first career appearance in the contest, where he joins Eric Gordon (Houston), Kyrie Irving (Cleveland), Kyle Lowry (Toronto), Wesley Matthews (Dallas), CJ McCollum (Portland), Klay Thompson (Golden State), and Kemba Walker (Charlotte). He is the third Laker in franchise history to be selected to participate in the Three-Point Contest, joining Michael Cooper (1987) and Byron Scott (1987 and 1988).

The guy currently ranks ninth in the NBA in three-point percentage, shooting a career-best 42.4% from three-point range, ranking third in the league among players who have hit at least 100 three-pointers. Young has made the 11th-most threes in the NBA this season (128), seven shy of his single-season career high (135). On December 17th at Cleveland, Young hit a career-high eight three pointers, later netting seven triples on January 1st vs. Toronto. In an eight-game span from December 17th through January 1st, Young hit a franchise record 36 three-pointers (36-64, 56.3%).

Meanwhile, D'Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram to make their appearance also at NBA All-Star Weekend. The two were selected to participate in the 2017 BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge. 🤜🤛
