Meralco Bolts Finally Meets its Match in SMB, Kraken Dominates!


Meralco was cruising the Commissioners Cup and has collected four wins in a row up until they met the 2017 All-Filipino Champion SMB.

Fresh from vacatio, the Beermen looks rusty in the first half as they trailed double digits against the Bolts who looks as if they were poised to get their fifth win.

The second half however, was a different story as SMB suddenly turned on their offensive prowess scoring 29 points in the 3rd and 35 in the last quarter.

The momentum suddenly was shifted to the Beermen lead by JunMar Fajardo who once again dominated both offensively and defensively. The Kraken scored game high 24 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked 2 shots.

Beermen starts Commissioners Cup with a bang by defeating the team with the best record.

The card, at the ProBox TV Events Center in Plant City, Florida, is led by two featherweights attempting to climb the rankings Angelo Leo (23-1, 11 KOs), who trains out of Las Vegas, Nevada, made weight at 125.8 lbs. His opponent, Eduardo Baez (23-5-2, 9 KOs), came in slightly lighter at 125.4 lbs. They will contest a 10-round main event. Leo is a former WBO super-bantamweight champion. He is riding a three-fight winning streak; his past two fights were broadcast on ProBox TV. Leo is ranked seventh by the WBA and 13th by the IBF. It will shine a spotlight on MMA fighters like Fil-Am Mark Striegl and Godwin Langbayan.
