Boxing and Puto Latik Festival = BAKBAKAN SA BIÑAN!


Annually, Biñan City, Laguna commemorates the feast of its Patron Saint  San Isidro Labrador - with their famous “Puto Latik Festival” which already on its 7th year, with this year’s theme; MAKIISA, MAKISAYA at MAKISAYAW, showcasing its world-renowned tourism and cultural products. 

This celebration will run for nine 9 consecutive days, (May 15 - 23) of fun and feasting. The committees assigned on this event have been platform a lot of activities in which people of Biñan and other tourists will surely indulge themselves in joy and amusement and will “Experience Biñan”  the way it supposed to be for it is known for having anything you need and considered as  the “City of Life” . 

One of the said activities is the “BAKBAKAN SA BIÑAN”, in which the great boxers of Biñan will compete with other boxers residing from different places in the Philippines and will prove themselves on winning the Philippine Light Flyweight title on May 22, 2017 at the Biñan City Plaza and will start from 6 in the evening onwards. 

The main bout is consist of 12 boxing rounds and will be between the Champion Lester a.k.a  “Lightning Strike” Abutan from the City of Biñan and under the Olivetti Boxing Gym, with his record of 20 boxing bouts, had won 11 times and a victory of 7 KO, with a total of 6 loss and 3 draws. With his challenger Rene a.k.a  “Mr.Nice Guy” Pataliano of Paranaque fom Elorde Boxing Gym and  who has a total of 22 fights, 16 wins and 8 by knockout, lost 3 times and a triple draw. 

They also have it’s undercard bouts consisting of 8 rounds here they are:

Lloyd Jardeliza  (Olivetti Boxing Gym) vs.Jimmy Aducal (Tiger City Boxing Gym)

Ray March Taday (Olivetti Boxing Gym) vs.Toto Landero (Dante Almario Boxing Gym)

Marlon Arcilla (Olivetti Boxing Gym) vs. Rex Tito (Big 5 Boxing Gym)

Aside from boxing which is under the Sports event, here are the other activities that the Puto Latik Festival year 7 has:

Trade Fair Exhibition, Street Dancing Competition, Land Float Competition, Costume Parade, heritage conservation advocacies, talent contest, cultural shows, job fair and the most anticipated Biñan Grand Santa Cruzan.
