Figueroa stops Guerrero in 3; looks to return by the end of this year
After almost two years lay off former champion Omar Figueroa (27-0-1,19) returned to the right with significant win over former world champ Robert Guerrero (33-6-1,19) at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Figueroa sent Guerrero five times to the canvass en route to a third round stoppage victory. Figueroa is the first boxer to ever beat Guerrero via stoppage.
"After the first knockdown I knew that the instinct would kick-in for him and he'd go all out," said Figueroa. "I thought it was going to be over after the first knockdown of the second round but the ref let it keep going. "I've been working since January so I'm going to take some time off," continued Figueroa. "Then I'm going to get back into camp to get back to 140-pounds. I want to be back in the ring by the end of the year." - Figueroa
In co feature fight ex olympian Marcus Browne scored impressive second round TKO over Seanie Monaghan.
