Flanagan-Verdejo, Saunders-Monroe Jr set for Sept.16


WBO championship double header set for September 16 at Copper Box Arena in London England. 

23 year-old Ex Olympian Felix "El Diamante" Verdejo (23-0-15) of San Juan, Puerto Rico finally get his long awaited title shot against reigning and defending WBO lightweight world champion Terry "Turbo" Flanagan (33-0,13)

The two unbeaten boxers were supposed to collide last year but the championship fight cancelled because Felix Verdejo suffered a motorcycle accident. Verdejo recovered then beat Oliver Flores via decision in his first comeback bout while 28 year-old Flanagan defended his title twice against Orlando Cruz (8TKO) and Petr Petrov (UD12). Flanagan won the title on July 2015 with second round Technical decision win over Mexican Jose Zepeda then defended the title five times. 

Also on the card WBO Middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (24-0,12)  is set to make his second title defense against Willie Monroe Jr. (21-2,6) Saunders was originally scheduled to defend his title against mandatory challenger and interim champ Avtandil Khurtsidze but Khurtsidze was arrested in June for some serious illegal cases.
