Frampton is Willing to Face Lee Selby Next
2-Division world champion Carl Frampton is willing to travel to face IBF Featherweight champion Lee Selby in Selby's hometown.
Frampton's manager Barry McGuigan is happy to negotiate with Lee Selby's team.
“We can’t have Santa Cruz in Belfast until next summer when we can go outdoors to a bigger venue. We do need a fight in the meantime so we are going to have to travel. But we won’t be travelling across the Atlantic. If we fight Selby we can fight him in Glasgow, we can fight him in Cardiff, we can fight him in Manchester, London, Birmingham. They all have arenas big enough to hold a crowd that makes it financially viable. I know that is the fight they want but it’s a whole different ball game when you sit down and negotiate with them. Frampton is the draw so they’ve got to understand who the main attraction is. We are happy to negotiate with them but we have to get it on the right terms. We have to get the right terms for Carl.” said McGuigan
Frampton was supposed to fight Mexican Andres Gutierez last weekend in WBC Featherweight title eliminator but the fight was cancelled due to accident where Gutierez accidentally slipped in shower.
Lee Selby the IBF Featherweight champion is coming off 12 round unanimous decision win over Jonathan Victor Barros to defend his title for the fourth time.
