South African Gideon Buthelezi (20-5.4) successfully retained his IBO World Super flyweight Title against Filipino challenger Ryan Rey Ponteras (20-12-1) Friday night at the International Convention Centre in East London in South Africa.
According to report Buthelezi earned a twelve round unanimous decision win over Ponteras to record his third successful title defense.
31 year-old Buthelezi has won three IBO world title belts since making his pro debut in July 2006. He is a three division IBO (International Boxing Organization) world champion. He held the minimumweight and light flyweight versions of IBO belt and currently holding the IBO world title at 115 pounds.
