Milan Melindo Makes First Title Defense Against Former Champ Hekkie Budler



Philippines' new light flyweight champion Milan Melindo will make the first defense of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) title with vacant IBO light flyweight title is on the line on September 16 against former world champ Hekkie Buddler of Johannesburg South Africa at Water Front Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.

Milan "El Methodico" Melindo (36-2,13) records the fastest win in light flyweight world title bout when he ko'd ex two division world champ Akira Yaegashi of Japan in just 165 seconds on May in Tokyo Japan. Melindo dropped Yaegashi three times in opening round to become a world champion in his third shot at world title. 

Meanwhile Hekie "Hexicutioner" Buddler (31-2,10) is a former unified WBA/ IBO minimumweight world champion. He won the IBO title with 12 round unanimous decision win over Filipino Michael Landero in 2011 and defended the title 4 times. He lost the titles to Nicaraguan Byron Rojas (16-2-3) via unanimous decision then decided to go up in weight to capture another world title.
