Canelo Only Wants WBA and IBF Titles When He Fights GGG on Sept 16

Canelo Alvarez is refusing to fight for the WBC Middleweight world title when he faces Gennady Golovkin on September 16th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo announced that he will challenge Golovkin for his WBA and IBF world titles and he will also put his Lineal and Ring Magazine Middleweight world title on the line. Canelo Alvarez is not also interested for GGG's IBO world title.

“I am very proud to be fighting for these important titles in this fight,” Alvarez said to ESPN.com.

“This will be the best boxing event of the year, and I know all of the fans from Mexico and beyond will come out and enjoy the fight as I defend my lineal and Ring magazine titles and take home the WBA and IBF championships.”

Golovkin immediately reacted to statement of Golovkin and said that he is the proud owner and champion of WBC.WBA,IBF and IBO world title belts and will defend each of them with pride in Las Vegas.

If Canelo wins he will only take home the WBA and IBF world titles while the WBC and IBO titles will become vacant if he is serious about his statement.
