Johnriel Casimero vs Jonas Sultan Added to Pinoy Pride 42 Fight Card
Johnriel Casimero to face Jonas Sultan in all Filipino title eliminator Fight.

Former 2-division IBF world champion Johnriel "Quadro Alas" Casimero (24-3,15KOs) will meet ALA Boxer and the current IBF Inter Continental Super Flyweight champion Jonas "Zorro" Sultan (13-3,9) in an IBF title eliminator fight in the undercard of IBF light flyweight world champion Milan Melindo title unification fight with IBO light flyweight world champion Hekkie Budler of South Africa on September 16 at Water Front Hotel and Casino in Cebu City. The fight was announced by ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer at a press conference.
27, Casimero of Ormoc City, Leyte is a
2-weight class world champion. He won his first title by stopping Luis Alberto
Lazarte in Buenos Aires Argtina in 2012. The fight went disastrous when
Lazarte's countrymen started riot after Casimero stopped Lazarte in 11th round.
Originally the fight was for the interim title, Casimero was elevated to full
champion position after previous champion Ulises Solis suffered jaw injury.
Casimero defended the title four times but then he was stripped due to failure
to make the contract weight for light flyweight division (108 pounds). Casimero move up in
Flyweight division and get another world title shot against Thai boxer Amnat
Ruenroeng. He lost in his first fight with Ruenroeng in June 2016 but IBF had
ordered rematch because of Ruenroeng's dirty tactics. Casimero stopped
Ruenroeng in the fourth round of their rematch to claim the IBF flyweight world
title in May 2015. Casimero defended the title once after he decided to move up
in Super flyweight division (115 pounds). He is now current IBF number 3 in the
division.
25, Jonas Sultan of Cebu City is the
current IBF Inter-Continental Super flyweight champion. He acquired the title
after scoring an upset win over home town boxer Makazolele Tete in South
Africa. After that he made bigger statement in the the division after stopping
former WBC world champion fellow Filipino Sonny Boy Jaro in the eight round on
May 2017 in Anggono Rizal.
The winner will become the mandatory
challenger for the IBF Super flyweight world title currently held by another
Filipino Jerwin Ancajas who will come back possibly in October.
