GENERAL SANTOS CITY (Jan. 19) – Unbeaten Jayson “Smasher” Mama of Gen. Santos City and Michael Camelion of Bukidon both made their weights today for their championship fight tomorrow for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Youth flyweight title at the Gaisano Mall Atrium here.
Mama of Sanman Boxing Gym tipped the scales at 111 lbs. while Camelion of Malaybalay City submitted 110 lbs. only.
They will be fighting for 10 rounds according to WBO supervisor Leon Panuncillo, who was assisted by new Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Davao Region officer-in-charge Datu Fahd Sinsuat.
“I’m now ready to rumble,” said the 20-year old Mama, a former amateur standout whois undefeated with eight straight wins with four knockouts.
Mama previously scored a 6th round stoppage against veteran Rodel Tejares (21W-44L-7D) last November 5 at the Robinson’s Mall Atrium in Gensan.
The 23-year old Camelion, on the other hand, is toting 10 wins with 6 losses, one draw and 8 knockouts. He TKO’d Raymon Dayham in the 6th round last Nov. 28.
“I’m going to use my experience against Mama,” said Camelion.
The boxing card is promoted by the Jim Claude Manangquil and Dexter Tan of Sanman Promotions.
The main supporting bout is a non-title bout between interim OPBF bantamweight champion Ben Manangquil (15W-1L-2D, 3 KOs) and Alvin Bais (15W-10L-1D, 4 KOs).
