Mind you, Brownlee is set to join the Gin Kings for the Commissioner's Cup AND the Governors' Cup

Rejoice, Ginebra fans. Justin Brownlee is coming back!

The 6 foot 10 import's name has been included in the list of imports who will be leading their respective teams for the PBA Commissioner's Cup. And frankly, if you're the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings, would you choose someone else if a guy like Justin Brownlee has been playing well for your team, even helping your team win back-to-back Governors' Cup championships during the last two seasons?

As of now, Justin Brownlee is playing alongside Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and Renaldo Balkman for San Miguel Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League where Brownlee is averaging 22 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot in 11 games so far. So Ginebra fans will benefit anew from these numbers that Brownlee is capable of producing because he has done many times in the past for the crowd darlings.

Will the Gin Kings win the Commissioner's Cup championship with Brownlee onboard?

That's a possibility as long as they won't get to meet the San Miguel Beermen as the low-seeded team in the quarterfinals. Why? Christian Standhardinger is why.

Like, Brownlee, the top pick in the recent PBA is also playing in the ABL which made him miss the entire Philippine Cup for the Beermen. So, aside from the 4-time MVP, June Mar Fajardo and whoever import San Miguel will have for the mid-season conference, Christian Standhardinger will pose another threat to Ginebra's Twin Towers of Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter.

Another key factor that will determine whether or not Justin Brownlee can lead the Gin Kings to a championship is the health of the players especially the veterans. If you will look back in the past seasons, Greg Slaughter missed almost an entire season due to injury while LA Tenorio and Sol Mercado were also dealing with their respective injuries. If they can stay healthy in the long, they will be an unstoppable force just like Justin Brownlee.

Conclusion

We shouldn't be surprised at all if Justin Brownlee fails to win the Best Import award in the Commissioner's Cup. After all, that's one of the many things why Justin Brownlee is loved by fans: he doesn't care about individual awards. He only focuses on winning the championship for Ginebra. As long as the Twin Towers are healthy and intact, Ginebra will definitely be one of the teams to watch out for come the mid-season conference.
