Dominic Valle Downplays Buzzer-Beater Knockout, Saying It's Nothing Special

Dominic Valle had an amazing buzzer-beat knockout win in June 2023 against Carlos Rosario. He got the stoppage 2:59 into the sixth and final round.

The super lightweight will next fight Angel Vazquez Lupercio on April 10, on ProBox TV’s Wednesday Night Fights.

Despite such a nature of victory – one that excited both ProBox TV broadcasters Chris Algieri and Paulie Malignaggi – Valle (8-0, 6 KOs) viewed it as routine. He enters his first eight-round fight not thinking about his highlight-reel moment, but Valle hopes to merit the same result against Vazquez Lupercio (12-1, 6 KOs), even if not at the very last second.

“The buzzer-beater knockout was nothing special to me honestly,” he told BoxingScene. “It’s something we work on in the gym.”

The younger brother of Marquis Valle is focused on his main goal of being recognized as a great fighter.

“Giving it my all until the very last second, it’s what I do in training,” he said with a matter-of-fact tone. “And I know the fight is not over until that final bell.”

Valle’s brief words capture his intense demeanor. He might not say a lot – but he is demonstrative. Despite being well ahead on the scorecards against Rosario that wasn’t enough for him. He pursued the stoppage – something that was born of a mindset that can’t be taught.

Valle, fighting for the first time in 2024, awaits a career-defining fight. Until then he continues to train for outcomes like in his previous fight – ensuring that is again the mindset with which he enters Wednesday night’s fight.

“It’s something that didn’t come as a surprise to me,” he finished.
