If it were up to Manny Pacquiao, there is only one person he would like to get his paws on in November, and that's none other than Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Pacquiao uncharacteristically called out Mayweather in his recent column pulbished in the Philippines and Philboxing.com and also pointed out his awareness of Mayweather's recent rendezvous with promoter Don King. Pacquiao wrote,
"I hope Mayweather is serious enough in doing business with Don King and is not doing this only to save face. I hope Don King does the same in return, that he can make miracles happen. I say this to both these men: Let's Get It On. Fight like warriors and brave men. I am the champion, I have the belts and I should not be the one challenging you. I should not even be the one trying to make this fight happen. But Pacquiao vs Mayweather is what everyone wants, that's why I am calling out your names. My promoter Bob Arum will be waiting for your call and will be very glad to hear what you have to say. The sooner, the better..."
Pacquiao continued to write in Tagalog that if Mayweather truly wasn't scared, that he'd prove it on top of the ring.
It's not often that Pacquiao calls out any opponent, matter of fact, I don't remember him calling out anyone like this before. He had some choice words to say to Erik Morales during their rivalry, but even Juan Manuel Marquez's teasing and challenges nor Ricky Hatton's trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr.'s insults didn't get a rise from the Filipino boxing icon the way a fight with Money has excited the Pac Man.
If Pacquiao's cliche` is to say "nothing personal, I'm just doing my job," his fight with Mayweather, which will also probably be his last if it happens, would also probably the first time he breaks that line of his. After all the disparaging comments Mayweather has hurled his way since coming back from retirement, Pacquiao definitely has some added motivation to finally shut Mayweather up. But before all of that happens, Mayweather must be swayed to fight him first. Something the world, together with Pacquiao hopes, Don King can do.
