UFC heads to Canada for St-Pierre-Koscheck rematch

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will head to Canada in December for the rematch between welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and contender Josh Koscheck.

According to MMAjunkie.com, the promotion will hold the St-Pierre-Koscheck match as headliner for UFC 124 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The report said UFC President Dana White wanted to capitalize on the supporters of the Canadian St-Pierre by staging the fight at the champion’s hometown.

St-Pierre and Koscheck have just finished their six-week shoot for "The Ultimate Fighter 12," wherein they coached opposing teams of lightweights.

The fight, which will take place on December 11, will serve as the season-ending match between the show's coaches.

The two first fought in UFC 74 where St-Pierre won by unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, White confirmed plans to hold a rematch between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and contender Chael Sonnen.

In a separate report by MMAjunkie.com, White said the Silva-Sonnen rematch is something MMA fans would want to see, especially after the exciting match between the two fighters in UFC 117.

"It's definitely a rematch I think people are going to want to see," White said. "Looking at Twitter, everybody is saying, 'Rematch. Rematch.' We'll see what happens.”

In UFC 117 last August 7, Sonnen dominated Silva for four and a half rounds before the champion came out with a come-from-behind triangle-choke victory in the 5th round.

White, however, has yet to set a final date for the rematch. – With reports from MMAjunkie.com
