Young Lakers

“Started from the bottom” now the Lakers are once again back in playoff contention. Maybe it’s too early to say, as the season just started but the Lakers are definitely now in good shape, being over .500 and at the 7th spot in Western Conference.

Not to sound like an “expert or something but I was sort of expecting this kind of performance from the young guns after Kobe’s retirement.

As D’Angelo Russel, once mentioned in an interview that now that Kobe has retired everyone is more free to do his own thing on the basketball court.

In my own opinion, last year’s abysmal performance was more of a mental breakdown. I thought the coaches and players were OK but the approach to the game was lame and I personally thought that it had something to do with Kobe’s presence.

Don’t get it twisted though, Just for the record I do not intend to discredit Kobe Bryant’s greatness.
He is no doubt one of the best players to ever play this game but his passion and presence turned out to be a double-edged sword for the young team.

My theory is that the whole team became complacent, too cautious and ended up on relying too much on their GOAT. In the process, they failed to maximize the team’s overall potential.

This season we are witnessing the opposite, in fact, the Lakers this season are more creative and more confident and most of all are having fun playing the game they love!!
