Broner (33-2,24) a former four division world champion will move back down in lightweight division (140 lbs.) to face Garcia. Broner's last fight was a split decision win over Adrian Granados at Welterweight division (147 lbs.).
Unbeaten Three division world champion Mickey Garcia (36-0,30) will test the water in 140 lbs. division but will remain as WBC lightweight champion but will be stripped of the title if he will continue to campaign in light welterweight division. Garcia won the WBC light weight title with devastating knockout of formerly unbeaten champion Dejan Zlaticanin in January.
