Bouncy Thoughts: What if Slaughter and Fajardo Become Teammates?

June Mar Fajardo and Greg Slaughter

Gigantic.

We often compare two of the biggest men the PBA league has in the name of June Mar 'The Kraken' Fajardo of San Miguel Beermen and Greg 'GregZilla' Slaughter of Brgy Ginebra San Miguel. But what if the time comes that these two play on one team? What do you think would happen?

For the better? Or for worse?

Any changes would yield both favorable and undesirable effects but let us discuss both sides of the coin in order to see if these two enormous players on the same team is beneficial or will just mess things up.

Let us have a look on the bright side first. With two of the tallest players in the league playing in one team, rebounds would absolutely fall onto their team's side. Their shooters can take shots freely due to a high second possession probability in case of the long ball not sinking down the rim.

These hypothetical team would also have the strongest interior defense and perhaps an impenetrable one due to huge shadows cast by the titanic defenders.

Now let's move on to the prospective void that may occur.

With a significantly larger lineup, the pace would go down dramatically and the team would be beaten up badly during turnovers and transition basket due to a defense that would be too slow to come back to stop a fastbreak attack. The team wouldn't stand a chance on a high - paced ball game. They may win on most plays where their offense and defense are readily established but in circumstances of lose balls and fast plays, they would not stand a chance.

Offense and defense would also be too saturated inside that when battling against a team with a high outside shooting caliber would equal tons of hard work for, despite absolute attacks on the inside, an outside shooting team would yield more points compared to them.

Despite these possibilities, we shall know that it would be best to see these guys play their best every game regardless if they are competing against each other or are in one team.

Currently, we are rooting for a Greg Slaughter to play and try to dethrone June Mar's 4 straight years of a regime as the league's MVP and it would be spectacular to see these two stars clash into a supernova.
