LeBron Says Center Role Is Temporary as Sixers Struggle on Glass Plus GINEBRA Day! | Powcast Basketball Daily

LeBron James can cover Philadelphia’s center shortage, but he has made clear that it should remain an emergency assignment. Oklahoma City’s surgery update, Austin Reaves’ explanation of Luka Doncic’s late rhythm and Converge’s crowded award challenge supply today’s other stories. 1. LeBron’s center shift exposes a problem bigger than one lineup LeBron pointed toward Joel Embiid when asked about starting at center: “I’m not here to have a sustainable role at the 5.” ESPN’s Kris Rhim reported that Sunday’s assignment against Detroit was his first start there since the 2021 to 2022 season. Embiid was unavailable for right foot plantar fasciitis management, while injuries also sidelined Jabari Walker, Dominick Barlow and Tacko Fall. The consequence is more revealing than the unusual lineup. Philadelphia has been outrebounded in all four games, including by 17 against Detroit. Adem Bona, its only available true center, supplied 13 rebounds in 25 minutes and earned LeBron’s praise. After... ... See more

John Wall Retires from the NBA

Five-time NBA All-Star John Wall has officially announced his retirement from basketball. Wall, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft , became the face of the Washington Wizards for nearly a decade. Known for his lightning speed, flashy passes, and ability to take over games, he leaves the Wizards as the all-time leader in assists and steals . His best season came in 2016–17 when he averaged 23.1 points and 10.7 assists per game and was named to the All-NBA Third Team. Wall also had short stints with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers, but injuries—including knee issues and a ruptured Achilles—slowed down much of his later career. At 34 years old, Wall says he is stepping away from the court but not from the game. He has already found a new role in broadcasting, joining Prime Video’s NBA coverage team. Kia Still Winless in 4 Games, Loses by 37 to Alaska

(Photo by the PBA Media Bureau) Kia absorbs 16th straight defeat- the third-longest losing streak in the PBA Ugly. That's probably the best adjective you can describe the early goings of the 43rd season of the PBA for the Kia Picanto. For starters, they threw away their future by trading the top pick who happened to be Christian Standhardinger. Then, just two defeats into the new season, Chris Gavina resigned which promoted Ricky Dandan as the new head coach. Unfortunately, that move didn't do the Picanto any good as Kia dropped their first game under a new coach. Things weren't about to get better any time soon for the Kia Picanto as they sustained one of their worst losses in franchise history as they got blown out anew, this time by the Alaska Aces, 102-65. This, folks, is Kia's 4th straight defeat and 16th consecutive since last season's Commissioner's Cup.  This is also Kia's third consecutive blown-out loss and they were defeated by a m... ...
