Latest Setback for TNT: Jeremy Tyler to Carry More as Kelly Williams Out for 4 Weeks

Jeremy Tyler import of TNT for the Commissioner's Cup

The KaTropa may need to rely on Tyler more as Williams is still recovering from an undisclosed injury

The Talk N Text KaTropa are all hyped-up as they will start the mid-season Commissioner's Cup with the three-time scoring champion, Terrence Romeo teaming up with Jayson after the former was acquired via a blockbuster trade that sent Moala Tautuaa plus two draft picks to the Global Port Batang Pier for Romeo and journeyman Yousef Taha. But then, the KaTropa will be heading into their first few games in the mid-season conference without their veteran big man, Kelly Williams.

After having a resurgent Philippine Cup which saw Williams slowly regaining his old leaping self, he is said to be out for the first few weeks of the Commissioner's Cup due to an injury that nobody within TNT knows. To begin with, Kelly Williams has been playing well since returning from a knee injury that he sustained a few years back so this latest injury puts TNT in a bad situation because now that Moala Tautuaa is gone, this will mean Troy Rosario will have to carry more load to fill in the void that will be left by the veteran Williams.

Fortunately, the KaTropa will be bannered by Jeremy Tyler as their import for the Commissioner's Cup and Coach Nash Racela said that he is expecting Tyler- who last played in the NBA with the New York Knicks, to help the rest of the KaTropa's big men in carrying the load as the backcourt is already loaded with high-scoring guards.

Who is Jeremy Tyler?

Jeremy Tyler has played for 3 NBA teams during the course of his 3-season stay with the league: the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks and, the Knicks. Unfortunately, he never had a solid NBA career as he only averaged 3 points and 2 rebounds in those years. Then, he played for numerous international league such as the CBA in China and in the NBL in Australia. This will be the first time that Tyler will play in the PBA and who knows, he might be able to enjoy the success that he didn't get to enjoy in the NBA.

Conclusion

While the KaTropa is loaded at the backcourt, they will need all the help they can get to make sure that they will have a competitive frontline who will bang up against the likes of the San Miguel Beermen and the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings- two teams who have towering big men. Will Jeremy Tyler deliver the numbers? We all have to wait until April 22 to wait.
