NBA Statement Regarding ‘Gilas Last Home Stand’ , its the promoters fault

East-West Private LLC remember this company name because they will never hold another event like this, this is a total embarrassment and failure not to mention the frustration it brought the basketball fans.

Here is the official statement of the NBA regarding the Gilas vs NBA Last Home Stand basketball event. 

Under the terms of the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, players are allowed to participate in offseason basketball games or exhibitions when requirements for those events are met, including ensuring that appropriate safeguards be in place, and the promoter seeks the proper exemptions from the NBA and the player’s team. The promoter of this proposed event, East-West Private LLC, was informed of this process several months ago but did not take the required steps. Filipinos are among the most passionate basketball fans in the world and we are committed to bringing them more access to our game and supporting the ongoing Typhoon Haiyan rehabilitation efforts.

The card, at the ProBox TV Events Center in Plant City, Florida, is led by two featherweights attempting to climb the rankings Angelo Leo (23-1, 11 KOs), who trains out of Las Vegas, Nevada, made weight at 125.8 lbs. His opponent, Eduardo Baez (23-5-2, 9 KOs), came in slightly lighter at 125.4 lbs. They will contest a 10-round main event. Leo is a former WBO super-bantamweight champion.
